Trail Running in Nepal

Nepal is a perfect land for you if you are a trail running lover. Every year we organize trail running trips in Nepal in different seasons. Please contact us for your suitable date and join us for once in life time trail running experience in Nepal. Some of the popular trail running packages are listed below with dates.

Some of the popular races are listed below.

The Manaslu Trail Race

Trip: Beginning November

The Manaslu Trail Race is a challenging multi-stage trail race passing through some of Nepal’s most beautiful Himalayan landscapes in a part-circumnavigation of Manaslu, the world’s eighth highest mountain.

You will ‘run’ a total of 170km over 7 race days and hike day. You will cross a 5,160m pass, sleep at a monastery, (optionally) peer over the border into wild Tibet, run above a glacier on the trail to Manaslu Base Camp and enjoy many awesome trails in between.

Mustang Trail Race

Trip: 14 - 27 April 2018

The Mustang Trail race is a multistage trail running challenge through the wild, spiritually rich landscapes of Upper Mustang in Nepal. It is race of eight stages of around 15 to 30km totaling just under 200 km at altitudes between 2,900-4,300m (9,500-14,100ft) with 8200m (27,000ft) of elevation change. These distances are harder than they seem at these altitudes.

For centuries this has been the safest trading route between Nepal and Tibet. The well worn trails make the yaks smile, and are thus perfect for trail runners too. Trails undulate over successions of dry hills between oasis-like villages. Scroll way down the page to see the background images.

Mustang with its fairytale landscape is one of the few places in the world to retain an air of mystery. Only opened to tourism in 1992, it is an enclave of pure Tibetan Buddhist culture whose conserved monasteries, and caves alike, house priceless historical treasures.

Everest Marathon with Classic Trail

Trip date:10th May to 03rd June

Historical trekking trail followed by legendary Mountaineers Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, who marched-in to their first ever successful Mount Everest Expedition back in 1953.

This trek is ideal for good acclimatization with overnight stop adjacent to quaint villages with their own monasteries, the root of the Sherpa and Tibetan Buddhism lies in these steep slopes of Solu. This traditional route passes equal to the elevation of Namche Bazaar and discovers the fertile valleys and the hospitality of the Sherpa people without the vast crowds found beyond Lukla on this classic Everest trail. This Classic route to Everest Base Camp takes you along a well-trodden Everest Trial, allows you to breathe in the deep rural ambiance and soak up the idyllic scenes.

The original expedition route between Jiri and Namche Bazaar has been all, but ignored since the construction of the Lukla airport, sponsored by Sir Edmund Hillary in order to deliver supplies to the schools and hospital he founded.

This option to Everest Base Camp trekking itinerary has been designed in consultation with professional mountaineers and guides ensuring adequate time for proper acclimatization before reaching Everest Base Camp in order to perform their best – running the World’s Highest Marathon.

Lumbini Peace Marathon - 21 km marathon

Trip date: 1st March

The world’s first and only spiritual marathon in the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini Peace Marathon is designed to be one of the unique marathons in the country. Lumbini Peace Marathon not only carries the spiritual importance of Lumbini but also highlights the historical importance of the place. The marathon is scheduled on March 12 (Full moon day), the day Buddha returned to his Kingdom after attaining enlightenment.

Lumbini Peace Marathon covers most of the important places of Lord Buddha’s life starting from his birth to some of the outrageous historic heritage sites. It brings new meaning to the long forgotten heritage sites such as Niglihawa and Arorakot that are an integral part of Buddhism. Its primary target, after sports, is to promote the local sites and its importance not only in terms of Buddhism but also in terms of its history.

With an aim to develop, promote and protect historical heritages around Lumbini, Lumbini Peace Marathon will donate funds collected to Lumbini Development Trust. This event wants Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, to be well recognized around the globe and shall willing work towards its promotion. The event also helps in benefitting the local environment and its people.

Lumbini Peace Marathon is the perfect choice for adventure enthusiasts for it provides the most thrilling opportunity for the adventure seekers to fulfill their thirst. It also invigorates athletics and forgotten histories among the younger generation in Nepal as well as the World.
