The pristine lake
lies in the foot hills of dense pine forest in Rara National Park, northwestern
part of the country. The Lake is Five kilometers long and two kilometers
wide and is the Nepal’s biggest lake, which houses otters and
many fish species. The trail is very much "off the beaten
path" and affords glimpses of culture and scenery very
different from those in the rest of the country. The Lake is surrounded
by juniper and spruce forests
and animals like the gaur, serow, musk deer and yellow-throated martin.
This is ideal place for bird watching, especially during April and November
when many species of birds visit during seasonal migration.
